Here is a quick tutorial about how I draw Daffy. I know it’s kind of a one two AND DONE kinda looking thing but I’m not writing a book on the subject, there’s plenty of “How to” drawing books out there for Looney Tunes.
*Step one: Draw an oval, some people even like using a circle, whatever floats your boat. Daffy has more of an oval shape though so I like drawing an oval.
*Step two: Draw in the eyes and lower mouth using the split oval/circle as guidlines on where to anchor things and place them.
*Step three: continue adding more details like the strands of hair at the top, the rest of the beak.. whatever else you need. Still just use basic construction, don’t worry about perfection. Sketch sketch skeeetch.
*Step Four: Use your sketch as a guide to a more presentable final product. This is honestly my worst step because my linemanship(is that a thing?) is TERRIBLE and I’m too lazy to use a fancy program to make good lines. Some people are amazing at this though (so jelly)
You’re done! The same steps can be used to create a full body Daffy.
For a full body character you need to plan a line of action and then construct around that. I’m not gonna go into that cause that’s a whole other giant thing to explain. For the rest of the construction I usually use 2 ovals, one for his chest and one for his butt. Then the limbs you can just place however you want.
The biggest suggestion I can give to people who are new to drawing is to sketch everything. Don’t sit there and make a perfect line all super slow and draw details. Just go quickly and BE MESSY. The important thing is to get a FEEL for the drawing, mold it, shape it. You can’t do that with solid perfect lines. Worry about that after you have a good sketch down.
Hope that helps.
